Why subtitles from GASTON
Less fixing
Accurate transcription in 98 languages, with punctuation and capitalization. For Slovak we run our own model, trained on 2,600 hours of Slovak speech.
Timed word by word
Every word has its own timestamp. When you split subtitles into shorter blocks, each one appears exactly when it is spoken, not at an estimated moment.
Fix before you export
Click a sentence in the player and correct it. The SRT gets your corrections and renamed speakers, not the raw transcript.
Subtitles in another language
Translate the transcript right in the player and download the SRT in the translated language. Sentences keep their original timing.
Straight from a YouTube link
No need to download anything. Paste the video link and download the subtitles once the transcript is ready.
Many files at once
With PRO, select several recordings in your library and download all their subtitles in one ZIP file.
You decide how the subtitles look
Whole sentences
By default one block is one sentence. Good for lectures, interviews and longer videos, where viewers read at their own pace.
Short blocks
Set a max number of words per block, for example 4 to 8. Ideal for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, where subtitles change fast in the middle of the screen.
Speaker names
Tick speaker names and every block starts with who is talking. We detect the speakers, you just name them.

Frequently asked questions
What format are the subtitles in?
SRT, which YouTube, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, Final Cut and most video players accept. The file is UTF-8, so accented characters display correctly on Windows too. We don't offer VTT or subtitles burned into the video yet.
Are the subtitles free?
Yes, for recordings up to 30 minutes. One extra subtitle with a GASTON credit is added at the end of the file, and you can delete it. With PRO you export subtitles for every recording, without it.
How do I get shorter subtitles for Reels or TikTok?
When exporting, set a max number of words per block, for example 5. Each block appears exactly when its first word is spoken.
Can I correct the subtitles before downloading?
Yes. Click a sentence in the player, fix the text or the speaker, and save. The export always uses your corrected version.
Can I make subtitles in another language?
Yes. Translate the transcript in the player, then download the SRT in the translated language. English is free, PRO covers 43 languages.
Can I make subtitles for a YouTube video?
Yes, just paste the link. You don't need to download the video. The exception is videos with regional restrictions, which need a PRO account.
How do I add the subtitles to my YouTube video?
In YouTube Studio open the video, choose Subtitles, add a language and upload the SRT file. The timing comes from the file.
